Karen Veverka
Karen Veverka serves as High School and Middle School Orchestra Director at Skaneateles Central Schools, where during her twenty-eight year career she has led her ensembles to annual “Gold” and “Gold With Distinction” NYSSMA awards, as well as award-winning performances at national competitions in Washington, D.C. at George Mason University, and Segerstrom Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Ca. Past musical experiences include study at the Aspen School of Music, Berklee College of Music and Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute. Ms. Veverka has served on the faculty of Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University and has presented clinics and sessions on music education topics at state and national conferences.
As a professional violinist, Ms. Veverka has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Om-
aha Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, Tri-Cities Opera Orchestra, Vermont Symphony, Society for New Music, and the Joffrey Ballet. She continues to perform with the newly-formed Symphoria in Syracuse, N.Y.
Ms. Veverka has conducted for Syracuse Opera, All-County and Area All-State orchestras, and
for American Music Abroad. Ms. Veverka was appointed conductor of the Syracuse Youth String
Orchestra in 2013, and in 2016 was invited to guest-conduct the Syracuse Youth Orchestra at
Carnegie Hall. Ms. Veverka holds degrees from St. Olaf College, the University of Nebraska and
Syracuse University. She continues to enjoy and be inspired by working with young musicians.
